WRD Resort: breakfast in a green valley in Mashta al-Helu
You’d expect it on a mountaintop, but it’s hidden in a valley below Mashta al-Helu. We were driving to Tartus and stopped here for breakfast.

What we found
- The drive alone is worth it: green mountains all the way.
- The place is clean and tidy.
- Breakfast is great: hummus, tabbouleh, cheese, eggs and fresh vegetables.
- Prices are fair: not expensive, not cheap.
- The resort also has really nice wooden cabins.
Before you go
Book ahead
It gets busy, so reserve before you go.
Getting there
From the main square in Mashta al-Helu, follow the signs, or call them and they’ll send a car to pick you up.
Mind the road
The road down to the resort is very steep: drive carefully or take their car.
